The Basque country:
Good Holidays on the Basque Coast!
Between the Ocean and the mountain, St Jean de Luz 's Bay extends from Ste Barbe to the Fort de Socoa.
The former city of Corsairs, glorified by the marriage of Louis XIV,
St Jean de Luz remains an authentic sea resort. The wealth of its heritage the beauty
of its beach and the tumult of its port will know how to make you vibrate.
Just like the Basque country, St Jean de Luz will make you share his traditions,
his cooking and his folklore. You can also take advantage of its golf, thalassotherapy
centre and all its sports activities.
Small typical, at once authentic and alive village, Ciboure will
seduce you by a range of cultural and sports activities. Since the beach of Socoa
and its nautical center up to the marina of Larraldenia, Ciboure offers you its
conducted tours, its Basque folklore, the pelota, its golf and its gastronomy.
Come to cross its narrow alleys and to taste the peace of the hill
of Bordagain.
Bidart, Guéthary, is the part "Village" of the Basque Coast.
Situated between Biarritz and St Jean de
Luz, these 2 nearby municipalities
are lined with
7 watched Sandy beaches, low waters will allow you (but not always!)
to pass of the one in the other one by wilder sectors, along beautiful protected
cliffs.
The walkers will know how to appreciate at best these 2 villages, crossed by the "littoral path”.
Why also do not take advantage of the station of Guéthary, and avoid
you one of the summer specialities: traffic jam!!
The landscapes are of a surprising variety, sometimes side mountains,
sometimes side Ocean there. You will not should miss the visit of the old districts,
the former beautiful white and red houses, the (young) Port of Guéthary which formerly
made whales tremble.
The animations do not miss, festive (you are in the Basque country!)
It even an attractive small cinema to Bidart.
You will find there also all the services useful for your holidays,
from the hypermarket to the small traditional market, the storekeepers have a welcoming
reputation. Doctors,
pharmacies, dentists everything is planned, even if we disadvise
you these destinations!
Ah, yes, waves: sometimes there is, sometimes not. The very young
vacationers will prefer low waters, the amateurs of glide will make with what the
ocean will grant them!!
Hendaye Beach, splendid and gentle beach of fine sand which
extend of the top of saint Ann and her famous rocks " The Two Twins
" in Sokoburu in the embouchure of Bidassoa which serves border between France and
Spain
